*Pop Culture
I have changed in many ways ever since I have got to the U.S. I am now more aware of what is around me and I am also immune to pop culture. I am easily influenced to the technology that is here. For example, everytime I see a new gadget I immediately want it. In addition, when I see a new fashion I get easily influenced to go and buy them. Moreover, when I hear Obama speaking I am easily influenced with his ideas and believe in him.
What I have become aware of when I started this class is tha pop culture makes up a big part of our society. People are easily influenced by the objects, events, places, and people that are around them. Whether it be on an advertisement visually or on the radio people imagine these things and how it can make their life better. In addition, something that has made me more aware of the world around me is technology. Technology is something that emerges everyday and influences us in every shape or form. For example, my phone is a major necessity in my life that has become a part of me without me knowing it. I use my phone all day everyday and without it's engaging advertisements I wouldn't even own one.
*Cultural Identity
The poster represents the person I am today and the places, obejcts, and events that affected my outcome in life. The picture of my sweet fifteen is a representation of something that I have participated in the U.S although, it is a Mexican tradition. I have done this because even though I live in America, I still want to carry on in my Mexican culture and this was a good way of doing it. The people that I have put on my poster are people that I admire or have influenced me. I admire the entertainers because they make life a little more interesting. President Barack Obama is someone that has influenced me in this country because, he is considered part of a minority group and he just shows everyone that anything is possible. I have put Texas on my poster because it was the first state in the U. S that I came to live in. I didn't really put a lot of stuff about Texas because it has a lot of bad memories that I do not want to remember. Texas did have an impact on me because it was the starting point in my life. This poster represents my life and how everything influences and inspires me.
*Reading
A reading that really spoke to me was the "You are too old, JK." It really spoke to me because it made me realize a lot of things about not teenagers but myself also. I didn't realize that I spent a lot of time texting until I read this article because some of the things that the teeangers did I do also! I felt so bad afterwards because the article was right texting when your parents are around is not proper etiquette; especially when its family time. In addition, it really surprised me that in the article two teenage girls were trying to persuade their elderly grandmother to learn to text also. But really I did the same thing with my mom and she did it because she thought it was the easiest way to get a hold of me and its true. Now knowing that texting takes up a lot of time of my day I have tried to cut it down because it really isn't that important and phone call has much more meaning than words.

*Music
My favorite kind of music is Mexican Pop Music. I really like this kind of music because it has a fun beat you can dance to but also, some meanings to some songs can always get me in a good mood. My favorite artist is a Mexican pop group called Belanova. They are my favorite because the lead singer is a girl and she always writes and sings songs about finding love, being in love, and just living life to the fullest. Belanova's music always puts me in a good mood. My favorite type of music is pop because it always has a beat and rythm that you can dance to. Also, pop music always relates to true life things that happen in my life and I can relate to it.
*Movies
In the movie, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" Benjamin Button, born an old man lives his life backwards with many obstacles but overcomes them and lives an amazing life. Even though Benjamin was thought to be a weirdo or a freak, he never let anyone put him down. More or less, he fell in love with a girl ever since the very first time he saw her. Although he was an old man and the little girl, Daisy, was only six years old, through out the years they grew a lot of love for eachother. When Benjamin started aging backwards younger and younger Daisy took very good care of him. Before he completely turned into a baby, Benjamin gave Daisy his diary with all his life experiences. Unfortunately, it was Daisy's time to go soon after Benjamin did and her last wish was for her daughter to read her parts of Benjamin's diary to remember all the beautiful memories they made.
A response that I had for a movie that I recently watched was that I really didn't like it that much. In the movie, Saw 6, it was simply a waste of money. In my opinion, there shouldn't be sequels made for movies past 3 let alone 6. It just ruins the movie. I think that in this case, the movies just got dumber and faker than the one before. In reality, none of that stuff can happen. Everything in that movie was totally fake and not scary at all; that being a "horror" movie. In addition, the content was really boring and not interesting. After all aren't horror movies suppose to be scary? This movie wasn't at all; just really cheesy and sarcstic. I do not recommend for anyone to go see this ridiculous movie unless you are extremely bored.
*Technology
Something that I cannot live without is my cell phone. This has only occured recently because before I got to the U.S. I didn't own one or more less wanted one. Now that I am here and I see everyone with one and not to mention the really engaging commercial, I have been reeled in to get one. My cell phone is not only for entertainment but most importantly it is for emergencies and to keep in contact with my family. Since I go to school kind of far and I also work I need a phone to know what is going on with my son and in just in case of an emergency I will have my cell with me. Having a cell phone has become a very importan part of my life because I have become very immune to it. Whether to check the time, mark on the calendar, use the calculator, browse the web, and even text my sister for something when she is in the room right next to me, it has completely taken over my life. Sometimes I catch myself and think to stop using it so much but once you get used to using something on a daily basis its hard to let go of it. Technology is something that will always be a major part of everyone's life.
*Glog
Our glog describes objects, places, and events that influence us. The object that we chose was a new internet based system. We chose this because it is a new product that is emerging everywhere. In addition, a lot of people are interested in this product and want to buy because it's attention getter performance. Moreover, the place that influences pop culture here in Chicago is the Chicago theatre. It influences pop culture because the theatre is a popular and famous place for tourists and residents to go have a good experience of entertainment. Plus a lot of famous people and groups go perform there. The Chicago theatre is a great place to see a good show.
*TV
A show that I am really attracted and addicted to is "Gossip Girl." I really like this show because the people on the show react a lot of the things that happen in real life. In addition, I can sometimes relate to the consequences that they overcome and they sometimes give me ideas on how to fix some of my problems. Moreover, their sense of fashion really engages my attention to the show. They always wear the most different and fabulous clothes ever. All the actors really get into their into their persona and do a really good job. This is another reason why I really like the show because the actors are really good.
